Preschool is an educational period formed by two stages: the first stage or nursery for 0 to 3-year-olds, and the second stage or kindergarten for 3 to 6-year-olds. This educational period has its own identity and its objective is to contribute to the integral development of the child from an emotional, affective, physical and motor point view, as well as from a social and cognitive one, working hand in hand with their families.
Betània-Patmos provides its students with a warm environment and safe surroundings, where young children feel welcome and motivated to learn, facilitating too, the development of their capacities..
Our pedagogy fosters learning while playing and using the scientific method, transforming the learning objectives into challenges, promoting autonomous thinking and not forgetting the importance of repetition and systematization. Emili Teixidó, founder of Patmos, would always say that pedagogy is basically «patience and repetition».
Behind all the educational situations that our pupils experience, there is always an education in values and emotions. With this in mind, the multiple aspects that form us as a person will be worked on in order to learn to be, learn to do and learn to live together.
It is at the preschool stage where we observe the widest maturity development differences due to the age of the children. It is for this, and other reasons, that we have created the Attention to Diversity Commission (ADC), formed by our teachers and our psycho-pedagogical team.
The preschool facilities are located in a sustainable building in Clos Montserrat, a natural area on the woody skirt of the Serra de Collserola Nature Park. The school counts with multiple indoor and outdoor facilities where everyday activities take place, such as an experimental space, Behind all the educational situations that our pupils experience, there is always an education in values and emotionsa library, a theater, an arts and crafts atelier, a space for mathematics, the music room or the physical education gym. All these spaces allow us to develop different learning processes and abilities.

FIRST STAGE OR NURSERY for 1-3 year-olds
At Betània-Patmos, we welcome EI1 and EI2 children (nursery year 1 and 2)
When children first arrive in our school, they find a warm environment where they feel protected and accompanied by their teachers. This fact will foster the affective links that are fundamental to acquire future knowledge and face new changes in the future.
We offer a calm, welcoming and encouraging atmosphere in which children can acquire autonomy and start exploring and developing their motor skills.
Our main goal is for students to feel they are accompanied, cared for and safe, creating an atmosphere where they start to know themselves and their capabilities. Through pleasant learning experiences, teachers will also offer them stimulating dynamics to foster interaction with other classmates and our surroundings.
We structure our school day around everyday activities in a structured and organized manner. We haveOur main goal is for students to feel they are accompanied, cared for and safe, creating an atmosphere where they start to know themselves and their capabilities play-time, time for personal hygiene, time to experiment, time to rest, time to eat… These habits and routines provide young children with security and they promote autonomy and personal initiative. These are important moments in which to build relationships.
We create different settings, like thematic corners, treasure baskets or experimentation boxes, to stimulate their thinking processes and creativity, that is, their development.
Our daily communication with the families is paramount for us, as it is key for us to get to know the children better, to understand their personal needs, to be able to respect their development. We want our observation and guidance to adapt to their evolution.
Finally, your children, our students, are important to us!
